Editing
Continuity Editing: Keeping the shots consistent frame by frame to avoid dissociation.
Non-continuity editing:
- Graphic match: First and second shots share the same shape colours or composition
- Flashforward: A scene that interrupts takes the narrative forward in time from the current time in the story
- Flashback: When an event is shown through a characters memory
- Time lapse: A video condenses a long period of time into just a few minutes or seconds
Sound
Sound Bridge: When the sound carries from one scene to another.
Silence: When the absence of all sound is used to make the audience uncomfortable or to build tension.
Foley sound: The art of creating sound using objects to match the sounds that would play in the scene. Jack Foley took the idea from the radio and applied it to film to make scene feel less awkward. People who create these sounds in post production in a studio are called Foley artists.
